What the Family System Remembers

Every family has a system.

And what happens within that system doesn’t simply disappear because nobody talks about it.

The people who were forgotten.
The relationships that were rejected.
The grief that was never acknowledged.
The secrets that were buried.
The family members who were pushed out, disowned, or simply erased from the story.

Sometimes, what is excluded from the family system finds another way to be seen.

And often, it is the child who becomes the messenger.

A child’s behaviour may sometimes be saying something that the adults cannot say.

The anxiety.
The anger.
The rebellion.
The withdrawal.
The unexplained fears.

It may not always be “What is wrong with this child?”

Perhaps another question is:

“What is this behaviour trying to tell us about the system around this child?”

Children live inside the emotional field of their families. They observe what is spoken, but they also absorb what remains unspoken.

Sometimes the child carries what the family has been unable to face.

This doesn’t mean children are responsible for healing their families. Nor does every difficulty in a child come from the family system.

But when we look beyond the behaviour and become curious about the relationship patterns, unresolved grief, exclusions and unspoken stories, we may discover a much deeper picture.

Because healing isn’t always about fixing the person who is showing the symptom.

Sometimes, healing begins when the family becomes willing to look at what has been left unseen.

What the family refuses to remember, the system may continue to express.

And perhaps that is one of the most profound invitations of family-systems work:

Don’t just ask, “Who has the problem?”
Ask, “What is the system trying to tell us?”

I have been into healing since April 1996. I am a perseverant learner and have mastered all levels of Reiki and other modalities including Theta healing, Affirmations, Decrees, NLP& Switch words. I have been teaching Usui Reiki since Jan 2010 and i integrate my healing with Psychology as i firmly believe true and honest communication and understanding of self and others is a essential part of healing. For me healing is journey and not a destination. Self-healing and self-love are everyday rituals of self-care and not as and when we need it.
